Jason Miller is of counsel and co-chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Group. Jason concentrates his practice on the procurement and enforcement of domestic and international patents, trademarks, and copyrights, in the mechanical, chemical, material, electrical and electro-mechanical arts.
Jason has worked on patent matters in industries including machine tools and related accessories, consumer and industrial containers and packaging, electrical connectors, business methods, lubrication equipment, industrial pumps and valves, forestry equipment, telecommunication equipment, fiber optics, lenticular devices and arrays, flexible circuits, inkjet printers, semi-conductors, thermoplastic materials, optical devices, bearings and compressors, medical devices, safety and fall protection equipment, automotive and hybrid technologies, computer hardware and software, musical instruments and other related technologies.
Jason regularly prepares and prosecutes patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office including conducting personal interviews before the examiners of the Patent Office. Jason has also handled both the appeal of important cases to the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences and when instructing foreign patent attorneys in opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office and the German Patent Office.
Jason devotes much of his time to managing and coordinating the patent and trademark portfolios of various clients, including both domestic and international companies. He also counsels clients in avoiding infringement of patents of others and frequently opines with regard to the infringement and/or validity of individual patents, or advises as to a strategy for avoiding the patent portfolios of others. Jason also serves as trial counsel for both plaintiffs and defendants in various intellectual property infringement matters.
