Continuing Legal Education
Live Video Webcast CLE | Intro. to Electronic Health Records

CLE - Continuing Legal Education Credit Course - Forclosure Defense SeminarIt is important not only to understand the legal aspects of EHR, but also the technical aspects of EHR in order to vigorously protect the rights of your client.

EHR licensing agreements are not just ordinary contracts. These types of agreements have intellectual property provisions (e.g., copyright, patent, trademark, trade secrets, and know-how), HIPAA/HITECH, and information technology (“IT”) provisions.

Therefore, it is quintessential to obtain a working knowledge of the intellectual property, HIPAA/HITECH, and information technology (“IT”) issues which are inherent within each EHR licensing agreement.

The following Key topics will be discussed:

  • What is an electronic health record (“EHR") system?
  • What types of EHR systems exist?
  • What is meaningful use?
  • How can healthcare providers and hospitals qualify for incentive payments under the Medicare and Medical programs?
  • What are the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules?
  • What is the HITECH Act?
  • What is an EHR license?
  • How do I negotiate an EHR license?
    • From the vendor perspective
    • From the hospital perspective
    • From the physician practice perspective
